Simulation-based estimation of wheel/rail friction coefficient and wear number considering results of full-scale roller-rig test

When railway vehicles run on sharp curves, the coefficient of friction (COF) between outer rail and leading-outside wheel flange a bogie is an important value related to problems such as wheel/rail severe wear, squeak noise arising from contact, running safety against flange-climb derailment. In general, it difficult grasp actual state COF, which changes moment during commercial operations. From viewpoint maintenance, desirable detect curved tracks with relatively high COF entire service line. The monitoring bogie, can measure contact forces operations, has realized long-term observation forces. For further applications simulation-based estimation method at have been proposed in author’s previous paper. Furthermore, investigation based roller-rig tests conducted.
